Bought myself a Mega Cab!

Well after looking around, I finally settled on a 2006 Mega Cab 2500 Laramie 4x4. It has 156,542 miles on it but it is from Texas and the body/underside is mint! Interior is easily a 9 out of 10. Truck has a rebuilt tranny and the engine was rebuilt at 147,345 miles consisting of being bored 40 over, new camshaft, turbo and #1 injector. Truck runs strong and hopefully I get years and years out of it!

Any particulars about the 3rd gens I should know??

I'm familiar with the 1st gen and the 2nd gen's, but not the 3rd gen's. Any tips or advice for them??

Lift pump longevity?
front end durability?
engine problems?
tranny durability?

Anything else? Thanks!

I have the 3500 version of what you bought. Love it too. The '06s can have issues with the tach and the #4 fuel ine. All have issues with ball joints on the front. Just hang out here and you will figure out what you need to watch for. I had 2nd gen 12 valve and loved the simplicity and durability. But all the buttons and comfort of the Mega Laramie is awesome. I plan on keeping it a long time. welcome aboard!

Congratulations on the new ride. We would like to see pics. That's great you got a rebuilt drive train. I am just wandering why a rebuilt motor?
