Bodyside Molding

Hey guys, my 05 quad cab has the black bodyside molding on it, just wondering if any of you have swapped it out for the chrome molding, is so was it hard? and where did you get the chrome molding? I'm affraid to ask the parts dept for a price, just wondering if there was a cheaper place than the dealers? thanks.

Paul

Chrome is cool... In the right moderation. You can remove the old stuff just like the badges. Use fishing line and the 3m eraser wheel. You can get the chrome pieces from dodgeparts.com or moparparts.com.

Just take it off with fishing line, I used Spiderwire. Heat it with a hair dryer first and they come right off. Got new chromes from mydodgeparts.com I think. They were I believe 110 or 120 a set(all for sticks on a quad cab). I have pics in my profile.

Mine came with the chrome package so before i even drove it off the lot i made them replace the front and rear bumpers with black ones, i made them replace the chrome bug screen and grill with black ones and i made them take off the chrome steps and door molding and de badge it..

Yeah i hate chrome, the GM of the dealership special ordered that truck with the chrome package and in 1 days i stripped it of all chrome, i told him it looked stupid haha, he just looked at me..

Look on Ebay

I got mine for my Mega Cab off Ebay. They have factory ones and aftermarket for a little less. I went with the factory ones. It was easy to put on I used a piece of old chair rail molding wrapped in tape (less scratches). It fit right in the groove and gave me a even straight line (an extra pair of hands helped, wife). You can probably use marks from the old strips you are removing. Mine look great with the chrome nerf bars.

I didn't put mine in the OEM position. One reason is I couldn't, and the other is I think my placement looks better. IMHO.

Whadda ya mean? I like it on a certain silver sport!

I can't remember how much it was but it wasn't too expensive and it's an easy install. They're such short pieces it's a one man job.

If all else fails, you can get it from the dealer. I think they also list it in the accessories catalogue.

yes, but the sooner you take them off the better.

less chance for the glue to fade the paint. I had a bit of it, covered it up with the road runner.
