I am getting really close to buying a 08 Diesel Crew Cab 4x4 with a 8 foot bed. My question is how are these bodies holding up? I know that some of the Dodge products that I have owned in the past have started to show some rust a little too quickly. Has anyone had any problems yet?

Never seen rust on a 3rd gen.

Mine's an early one, and I have plenty of rock chips and scratches, a couple down the bare metal. I live in a very salty state, so I chase the chips and scratches down a couple of times a year with touch-up paint. No trouble yet. I'll probably go with clear-bra on the hood and bedliner along the rocker panels on my next truck though.

 

Get the truck rustproofed by a reputable shop if you plan on keeping it at least 5 yrs., I live near the ocean, & this helps, rustproofed every truck I owned since 1980.

 

Never seen rust on a 3rd gen either, I have a friend with a 2002 he doesn't take care of at all, and it doesn't have any rust as far as I can tell.
