Block Heater Cord?

I've read about buying the cord at Cummins instead of the dealership. I was wondering if anyone knew the part #.

All you guys spending so much for the cord or thinking you have to go to the dealer or Cummins for this cord... your being misslead.

Its the same cord as on the ford.. and every semi truck on the highway
it has a screw on ring on the Orange plug, that has TWO holes and a brass ground tab for the heater probe in your block. its UNIVERSAL.. I know Im a Truck mechanic. used & installed thousands of these things. the cords can be bought at Truck Parts stores or even on ebay for fords I think the dmax uses the same thing but I doubt it being its a Chevy.. I didnt have one when I bought my truck went to the local Truck Parts store got one for 18.00 with the Long cord. took less than 5 min to rout it and hook it up.Just cause we have a Cummins dont mean you have to buy from Cummins there the same as a dealer high prices. hope this helps.

I wouldn't worry about it. It will never get cold enough in your city that you would need a block heater.

Maybe Dodgemn should read some of the links TonyB provided. Looks like most people are getting them for less than the 18 bucks dodgemn is paying.
It gets below freezing here, and i'm not always in the city, so i think i'll pick one up anyway.

Cummins heater cord

$18!!!! at the autoparts store, thats higher than the Cummins dealer.

I paid $12 at Cummins for the cord. The Dodge dealer wanted $58. You dont need the part number as the counter guy had a pile of them.

I think its funny here on this forum how some guys deciede if YOU need a heater cord to plug in just cause they dont.

part of being a true truck driver is being a mechanic especially when you own them...

and at -30 below one dont care what the price is or where to get one cheap.
like I said before, was just trying to be helpful. I know you can get them cheaper down south, but not here..

[ well it must be the COld then... getting frost bite on the brain.
but My nearest Cummins dealer is 383 miles away from where I'm at. and shipping from there to here would almost be as much as the darn cord. so for 18 bucks its cheap...

anyways no biggie...Ill just go outside and sit in the freezer, at least its warmer in there.. LOL

i have a perfectly good one off of my 04.5. i replaced it with one from international truck, so it would fit the nice chrome housing with the flip lid that i installed on my front bumper. free to somebody who pays shipping!
