Block Heater??

On my 4th day of driving the new beast. Love it. 10 times better than the '97 F350 it replaced.

Question I have is on a block heater. I don't think mine has one, and being in New England, I think it is a must. Anyone have one installed at the dealer (cost??) ? Or by themselves? I don't see any plug near the radiator/grille. Thanks in advance for any info....

Sometimes they are really hidden. Look around underneath while lying on the ground. I think mine was tucked up in the bumper.

From what I understand, for 04 if you don't order the block heater, it comes without the power cord, and there is a plastic cap over the heater element, which came with the engine from Dodge.

Ordering the power cord from Dodge is more than adding the option to the truck, however the same cord can be bought from cummins cheaper.

Here is one of the earlier threads...

and here is a page with a diagram showing where it is.

Heater is on the lefthand side of the motor as you look at it (passenger side) below the exhaust manifold near the oil filter. It has a black plastic cap approx.
1 1/4" around. bought my heater plug cord at dealer for I think $45.00 . installed it myself and ran the cord to the front passenger side grill. If you look closely at the frame you'll find the holes in it to attack the plastic fasteners to hold the cord. Install time took me 15 minutes mostly b/c I'd never done it before. Helps to have long skinny arms to reach the outlet on the motor from underneath.
PM me for any in depth questions.

Jamie.
