Big Horn Edition - Forged Rims

My 2006 Ram 2500 is the Big Horn Edition. Is it true that the truck has FORGED rims?

Is the forged rim a better rim than a standard factory rim or is it all just hype?

LOL, are you serious?

You will be load limited from the tire before worrying about the wheel.

Forged aluminum wheels are indeed lighter and stronger than a similar cast aluminum wheel. According to my '06 brochure the Big Horn does come with 17" polished forged-aluminum wheels.

Truckjunkie -

THANKS for the compliments!

PTGarcia -

Thanks for the information. That is a nice option to have. They probably stand up to dents and abuse more than cast.

THANKS

Good question - most people don't realize that 2 different aluminum rims were offered on the big Rams, cast and forged... obviously forged is the better choice for durability and strength, even if you don't prefer the way they look.

Actually the 06 brochure only shows 3 styles of aluminum wheels...all forged. There are also 2 styles of steel wheels.
