Bfg Km2 Help!

Hello I am new to this forum and am in need of some help/advice. I know there has been endless posts about tires but I have been searching many forums and cannot seem to find much info about putting 305/65/17 tires on stock alloy wheels specifically the BFG KM2. I know many of you run the 35's with a leveling kit but I would like to stay away from a leveling kit. I know 285's work fine but I would like a load range E tire that is offered by the 305. Will the 305's work on a stock 4x4 diesel truck? Any first hand experience and not my brothers friends boss has....? Any good pics of 305's on stock rims? Thanks and I look forward to using your forum!

Hello Pikeman!

I don't have any experience with that exact tire size, but I have run 315/70/17's on stock rims...

The only time I had rubbing was at full lock, and they rubbed the control arms...not enough to keep me from running them, though!

I think you should be OK with that size and the stock rims...

That is basically the same size KM2's I just put on mine, 305/60/18. I did get new wheels obviously since they are 18's but you will not have a problem with them. They are basically 33x12.50's

My truck is stock height as well.

Is there a problem putting the 305/65 on the stock width rims? BFG calls for a half inch wider rim. I am pretty sure there would be no problem since the 35x12.5's call for the same rim and I have seen many on stock rims.

You will be fine on the width of the rim, just don't over inflate and wear out the centers.

I'm running that exact tire on my truck on an aftermarket rim that is only 1/2" wider than stock. The tires are wearing evenly across the tread, you should be fine with stock rims, I'm actaully thinkin have having my KM2's put onto my stock rims for the winter so as not to mess up my Welds with road salt.

I know it's not axactly the picture your looking for....

i also run 315/70/17's on stock rims, i thought they didnt rub until my buddy w/ a power wagon said his 315/70/17's rub his control arms, and i looked, and sure enough...they ever so slightly tough the control arms at full lock.

here is a pic for reference...

Are the 305's and the 285's the same height with the 305's being just wider??

Alot of it depends on the tire manufacter. Some 285's are 34" tall where others are closer to 33"s

You just have to run the tire calculator, but a 305/65 vs a 285/75 both on 17 in rims, I think the 285 is a taller, the 305 is wider.

First tire calculator I googled. :
