Best way to prevent rust under truck?

I just did ball joints and U joints on my 03 and I am not impressed at all with the fact that dodge does not use any sort of effective rust prevention on any components.(axle housing, spindle carriers, steering arms ,Trailing arms,ETC.) Is there any good spray on coatings(not Paint) that I can apply occasionally that will help.
I dont want to resort to old faithfull ( trans fluid & paint brush) if I can help it.

Use either Extend or (if you have big bucks to spend) POR-15. Both are rust converters that leave a heavy duty protective coating behind.

I applied some of this in November to the frame, and pretty much any metal component under the truck. Some people have said that it will prevent any rust throughout the winter months (and salted roads) as long as it is reapplied every year. I'll have to wait until next year to see how it holds up, but the frame now has a waxy, slightly tacky coating that seems to bead water really well.

I did the T9 Boeshield also... slightly tacky coating also... seems dirt has stuck all over it... we shall see come spring when I clean her up.

I usually get mine at Ace Hardware. But I bet you could find it at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

I crawled all over the bottom with a can of spray paint when new. Helped a lot but it does need a touchup now at almost 2 years and 11k.

I did something along the lines of the trans fluid and a paint brush on my 94 S-10. I had a spray bottle that I filled with MMO and 30W non detergent (it sprayed pretty good too).

I sprayed everything I could see under that truck ever so often. I had it since I was 16 and almost died in it in a head on collision when I was 27, it had almost 300k, burned about 1/3 quart every 5k and got a steady 25 mpg.

It was rust free underneath the day it died!
