Bed liner question
Bed liner question
I don't do much of any hauling in my truck, other than coolers to float the river, my motorcycle occassionally, or golf clubs for those golfing road trips. Which of the bed liner companies has the smoothest/finest texture? Thanks.
Line-x is considered the best for high pressure and durability. I have had three or four different spray in liners. The only one I think is bad is the low pressure soft spray ins. This is mostly done by Rhino, but others offer the same option. It just tears up easy and seams to deteriate quicker than high pressure spray ins. Rhino high pressure is about the same as all the others. All of the high pressure hard spray in liners I have had have performed about the same. In the Houston area there are no Line-X dealers anymore. Don't know the real reason, heard lots of rumors. I have had Toff Liner, and Xtreme Liners on the last couple of trucks and they have performed well and about the same.
I just had a bed replacement a few months ago and had an Xtreme liner done for $325 over the rails. So far it seems as good as any I have had.

My preference is the Reflex bedliner. When compared to a line-x (there may or may not be more than one style of roughness) it was smoother and a little softer. As stated previously, with a liner like this gouge marks are harder to avoid, but I still really like Reflex liners.

Personally... I like Line-x... I have a rhino now, and it is the biggest piece of garbage I have ever seen.
What I reccomend...:
See who does what in your home town... Look at their work, 6 months down the road.
If you are just looking for basic stuff, get the do it yourself stuff and a plastic bedliner.
Cover what the plastic bedliner does with the cheap stuff.
Get Line-x for the 'over the rail' and tail gate top.
When you sell it, take the plastic out.
This is the most effictive bed liner I have ever seen. DIY under OEM plastic.
Just my .0000000002....

I've had three Rhino liners, all from the same dealer, and have loved every last one of them (two without a camper and one with a camper on). My dad has one on his 2001, bought new and lined the same week, and it's still holding up as good as day one and we do a lot of tree trucking and hauling of saws, oil, gas, etc.
I think it's more about the dealer than about the name brand. Find someone who has sprayed a lot of bed and does VERY GOOD prep work (i.e scratches and preps the bed surface) and you won't be disappointed with either LineX or Rhino - but for my money it's been Rhino (I get them for 450.00 over the rail, can't beat it).

Most spray ins will not stop your stuff from rolling around in the bed unless they also have a grip surface. I do have line-x on my truck bed and love it. However, when hauling my cooler it still slides around. So I just bought a ratcheting bar from Cabella's to replace the bungee cords that I used to keep the cooler from sliding around.
I agree with what has been said earlier about looking at older trucks that have the liners sprayed in and how they are holding up. Also ask for how long the sprayer has been doing this type of spray in liner for the best look. Choose wisely and what fits your pocket book.
