Bed cap question
It's not a perfect fit but it doesn't look bad. I had a 2nd gen cap on my 03 truck for a while. If you aren't real **** about the looks of your truck then you will be fine. If you're a perfectionist then don't do it...
I bought a new one when I went from my 2nd gen to 3rd gen. Don't quite fit right - bed shape/slope were different. The cap I had was molded to the bedrails and had issues in the corners. Not sure if the fit was due to the cap design or the truck but it didn't work for me.
IIRC, it IS the width of the rear that is the issue. These newer trucks are actually about 5" narrower in the rear that they are up front. The 2nd gens are similar but they are a bit wider in back so the cap sticks over the bed slightly.
