Might have a look at the prices here:

http://www.central4wd.com/

I bought my rail protectors from them and it seemed like they had the best price at the time. I bought Dee Zee brand in BLACK aluminum diamondplate. They don't show black online, but they do carry it.

Keith

not sure bout the rail guard but id go with weatherguard for the box. their boxes are extremely tough (same people that make the Knack (sp??) boxes) only 2 probs though they aint cheap and u can only get them directly from weatherguard as far as i know

I'll check into the Weatherguard. I've been pretty impressed with seen of DeeZee products. Are they good quality??

I have had the DeeZee rail caps for 3 years now with no problems look almost good as new and have good fit and coverage. Would buy them again.

Does the Dee Zee tailgate protector fit OVER the factory bedliner or would it have to come out? I'm thinking of taking it out anyway so that would give me a good excuse to do it.

I had Dee Zee brite diamond plate bed rail caps on my '98 Chevy and they held up very well. Dee Zee clear coats the aluminum so it's doesn't tarnish. I just ordered Dee Zee brite tread caps and tailgate protector for my '03.

MikeyB

Hoss,
Have that bed LineX coated before you put those caps on. Do it right and forget it. You don't pull a fiver, do you? If so, be careful of the boxes that stick up over the rails. Check my pix on page 10.

I have the dee zee caps all the way around my 98 truck. I scratched the clear coat picking up a load of gravel. These rails now look like they are 10 yrs old. The Aluminum is good but the clear coat is fragile. I am having the bed liner sprayed over the rail on the new truck.

As far as the fiver, I don't currently pull one (or anything else for that matter), but knows what future is in store for this truck...

Hoss:
Have the linex sprayed over the rails. The bed caps will cover it and it will give good protection. Those caps go on with double sided tape. I used the tape and then used some I think they were bullrings but could be wrong on the brand, that go in the stake pockets that provide tie downs that are hideable they also provide clamping to the rail covers for a very secure fit with no drilling required. If you do get some that need drilling drill first then get linex'd.
Re:2003 Tool Box and Bed Rail Cap Recommendations
I have a rhino over the rails and have been extremely satisfied. I also have a trailboss over the rail black diamond plated tool box (deep box too). I believe it is considered a medium-duty box. Probably not a Weatherguard quality box, but it has stood up well. I was determined to get a black deep box and had lots of trouble finding one.
