sorry..lol

I got 4 bags that each contained 12 oz, but this next time I'm going for 14 oz as I plan on getting more of a mud tire instead of A/T. I got 30k on my Pro Comp A/T's and still rotated around 5k and have worn really good. But this being the 2nd full winter on them, they are getting a little worn enough that they won't pass inspection this summer. So get new M/T for the rest of the winter and run them till they die in a couple of years.

I also have a heavy right foot some times which do not help the tread stay on the tire....

They now have beads for off road tires which they state is a little larger then their normal bead. Their normal bead can either be thrown in when mounting or empty air out of tire and poor slowly down the valve stem with their applicator. When I did it that way, quicker to take tire off and lean it against something and slowly poured while tapping stem. Took about 15 minutes per tire. Larger ones will NOT fit the stem.

They look killer, but everytime I see them I think those gotta by louder then my BFG AT's. Problem with my BFG's is I can NEVER keep the 285 size in balance. I hate them. Everytime I go in they peal all the weights and rebalance. They feel good for the first few hundred then they suck again. I hate them originally road forced, lasted 20k or so, but then the second timethey refused to road force them again. told me you only have to do that once. Seemed like bunk to me.

Beads look sweet, but 12oz each? Any tire that take more then 5-6 oz has always been considered junk in my book. Besides, isn't that like $20 a tire?

The new Diesel Power mag rated the Nitto Trail Grappler quieter than the Toyo MT and as quiet as many AT's. Nitto worked some magic on these tires.

You are thinking from the external type of balance. Yes, maybe 5 - 6 oz on the outside. Placed inside and the 12 - 14 oz will rotate around to where it might be needed. Maybe a few oz on one side of the tire, maybe a little bit more on the other side, it completely balances the tire without a problem. I just went with what they suggested and you never need to add more.

If you place a weight on the outside on the rim. Don't you think that after 1000 miles the tread will start to wear making the tire slightly out of balance? From the inside, I have never needed to re-balance the life of the tire.

I also do not get ANY cupping associated with 4wd front ends. Yes, they may cost some more but so well worth it. I still rotate about every 7000 miles but mostly because the rears seem to wear down faster for some reason, maybe due to my right foot... LOL

Just put new tires on and ride is excellent.

I had beads in a recent set of tires and found it was super smooth up to about 50mph, then I got some irregular vibtration above that. I think the tire place didn't put enough beads in the tires to work properly at the higher speeds, since the tires were a heavy off-road tread (BFG T/A KM2). But under that it was great. I will continue to use beads rather than external weights. Google "tire balancing beads". There is plenty of info.

One issue you will encounter with beads is that since they are active balancers, if you have a chunk of mud or gravel in your tread, the beads will try to balance that out, and as the tire self-cleans, they continue to rebalance the tire, so you get some vibration until the tire cleans itself and the beads settle down. My experience was that within 2-3 miles things settled back down to smooth sailing. I also sometimes got a second or two of light vibration after changing speeds drastically (quick stop & start, or hitting the gas hard), but no big deal.

I use the beads in my scooter, the new truck tires got equivalent weights of air soft pellets and are working wonderfully!

i had beads in my toyota with 31's and they were great except if you hit a expansion joint on a bridge/pot hole it would take a minute to settle back in again. other than that no complaints here.

Now that you have all the answers here is the beat answer to the wheel balance problem. Get yourself a set of centramaic wheel balancers. These things will solve the ever changing whell balance problem. I only get my tires balanced when they are first installed.
Here is the web site http://www.mrtruck.net/centramatic.htm

I second the centramatic solution. I've had them on my truck for a couple of years and am On my second set of tires. They work great and once they are on your truck, your balancing is done, permanently! I love set it and forget it solutions

Why do you get your tires balanced when they are first installed if you are using the Centramatic? Is that necessary/recommended? I thought it was just "plug-n-play" so to speak.
