Bad Timing...

But as the rest of you wrestle with your heaters, I have a problem with my A/C.

The two left vents on my '03 blow snowflakes and the two on the pasenger side are luke warm. I took it to the dealer. They ripped apart my dash and claimed it was a [insert expensive part here] or something, but the problem is still there.

Now, the driver's side blows fairly cold, but nothing impressive (my '03 1500 gasser does much better) and the passenger side is marginal at best.

Okay, I am lying. I have never been impressed with my A/C. It froze up on a return trip through Cajon Pass and doesn't cool off at idle like my gasser.

I'm tired of going to the dealership. For whatever reason, atmosheric conditions are perfect there...

Never got over 18-20 deg. a couple of days last week here so my vent would have blown snowflakes if I'd turned it on. Today it was 62, the saying is if you don't like the weather in Tn. just wait a couple of days and it'll change LCH

Souns like the MANY others including mine! If it gets the LEAST bit low on freon the pass side goes to hell and a handbag.I've and OTHERS have been fightling this since purchace.I'm sure STAR(tech assistance)is VERY aware of this issue. If the ac is evacuated and recharged properly it will cool great until it just gets a FEW ounces low. Then right side gets MANY degrees warmer.I think the evaporators are leaking.

with the many components in the A/C system how did you come to that conclusion?
You are correct that low refrigerant is usually the cause when one side of the cab is cooler than the other.

Because its ALWAYS no leak found and NO dye trace.Over 25 years in automotive 95% of the time I've been told THAT its a evaportor and TECHS and others involved HOPE upon a STAR its not! Once its broken down then the VERY faint hints of dye are found.Been through same deal on MANY differant product lines.A few posts have come to the same end after many trips for recharge, fin temp sensors etc.The dealer near me has replaced a fair amount under warranty and customer pay on 3gs and had to PARTS warranty some of the replacments for leaking in the 12/12 warranty on the customer pay ones.Mine has been recharged twice a summer for two summers.D.C. does NOT have a good track record on evaportors in numerous lines for numerous years now.In simple terms a GUT feeling also.

Interesting. I have another thread going on this (35K mile service) and they are putting in my third evaporator next week.

#1 Bad fin sensor
#2 Leaks (but fin sensor is good!)

Hope the third time is a charm!

Been reading how some have tried NAPA evaporators and SAME deal.Lots more posts on the GAS sites then the diesel sites(more of them)About every Jeep Gran Cherokee at least up to 2001 ALL leaked at some time.Seems it STILL a issue. But on every product I ever handled if it leaked slow and no leak found it WOULD be found once you got into the evaporator. The little D.C.dealer near me does several a week in the hot months and 03 up trucks getting their fair share also.Bet a c note thats were my freon is going.
