I remember when I first bought mine. End of March of '04. Next month diesel shot up over the price of premium (for the first time). When I left the lot my over head, for the first few months, read somewhere around 12-13. I was thinking that I'd never make the break-in period. Now I'm at 166,000 miles and the overhead reads 21.8. Mixed So-Cal hilly driving. I drive 4 days a week to work and the altitude change is from 4200 (my house), to around 1100 (work). I don't do a lot of hand calculating after my first dozen or so times. Found out that the overhead is usually within 1-2 tenths of my calculations. I've reset the overhead on the freeway and at 65-70 MPH averaged 24-25 MPG.

Not when you are rockin' the 4.10's like I got. I have to run 35 inch tires just to get it to run 70 mph at 2000 RPM.

07 auto 4x4 3:73 stock tires, K&N filter, Quad XZT 65 hp 5w40 syn in the motor, 18k miles.
Last tank was hand calculated to 13.9 mpg, mixed towing and driving over a 11 mile 6% grade everyday, and alot of towing through town. Overhead said 16.8 when I filled up.
I've got 200 miles on a fresh tank of non towing, so I'll fill it up today for another calc.

My buddy has an identical truck, bone stock and claims 21 mpg, it started out as 19 and he's been calling me week after week bragging about how it keeps getting better. He has 20k miles. We lined the 2 trucks about 3 weeks ago, and from 0-60, I had 2 lengths on him.

271 miles on a non tow tank, filled it back up and put 16.5 gallons in it. I get a little over 16 mpg running around empty mixed hiway/city driving.

I know this may be a stupid question to all you americans-but when you are calculating your fuel mileage-I assume you are using US Gal in that equation and not imperial gal.
When I figure my milage out on my truck, I get 14.7 L/100 km.
If I convert that to US MPG-then its around 16. If I use just the IMPGAL conversion-I get somewhere in the 19MPG range.
I have noticed a tonne of people either getting 16 mpg or around 19mpg. Could this conversion simply be the difference between the two?
This is the website I was using-

Drove my new truck home from MN to MT thru SD and averaged 18 by hand driving 65. Not much wind so it is a good starting point for me to know if my milage will go up with mods and milage. Started with 2400 and now have 3600 mile on my truck.

This is with a leveling kit and 315, I could get better if I didnt have the lift and tires.
This is pretty much where I'm at with the Quad X2 box on the tow program.
