How involved is this???? I hate having to lean back and pull this! I had an old F-150, and loved my power slider.

 

Chrysler actually has a kit. Part# 82210002 I think. It will need to be installed by an automotive glass man though. The wiring you can do. These are urethaned to the body now instead of just a weatherstrip holding a glass in.

I've seen the Chrysler kit for sale on eBay and aftermarket kits as well, so you may want to at least check there for pricing and possible aftermarket options.

My slider quit working after awhile, so I tore into the interior trying to figure out what was wrong (I found the Chrysler installation instructions on the eBay auction ad for the kit).

It wasn't that difficult to disassemble the interior and get to the window and motor assembly. If I were to have a window installed, I would take everything apart myself and then take it to the glass shop to get the glass installed. It would cut down on the labor and doing it myself would assure it was done right.

I have the CR Lawrence powerslider in my truck. You definitely need a glass man to swap the windows. I just had the glass guy swap windows and I mounted the gear box and did the electrical. I love having the powerslider...use it all the time now since I don't have mess with trying to reach it to open and close it.

Be careful with going the pwr slide route...OR more so...with the glass shops doing the install. If you don't already have leaks...you might just create some for yourself... I'll be in soon for yet ANOTHER power slide (2nd)...original and newly installed are leaking. I'm told that the district Chrysler rep manager will be overseeing the next window installation that is on order now (week)...this time around I'm told it will be another glass shop giving the opportunity to correct the water leak issues I've been having. good luck.

 

Not to hijack the thread but can you install a pwr slider in a pre-06 truck? Mines an 05.

 

Yup, mine is an 03 - no issues.

I must be the only guy on here that doesn't like sliding rear windows, power or manual. I've actually been thinking about having it removed because I don't like them .... so far I've only unplugged the button on my '08.

I'd love to have one. In a Mega there's no way you can reach the window in the back.

 

I think I would really like a power rear slider. I had a manual slider on the 99 and I really liked it when it was open, however, it was a real pain to open it, and a couple of times, our silly son would just open it, like when we were driving in a terrible downpour. A power slider I would think would be impossible for him to open, and could be opened and closed when you want it, which would be real sweet.

The manual slider is also a very quick entry point for thieves. How are the power slider on that? I would think they would be pretty safe, other than a thief wouldn't know it was held in place by the slider motor and tear it up trying to get in.

I've always wanted to put in a slider that opens like a side door window. Kits are available but they sure are expensive.

 

Did you install the 82210002 Power Slider Kit from Dodge? Any issues with mounting the regulator (motor) or cables? Any issues with the rear panel trim? Where did you mount the switch?
