Thanks for all the replies, I'll definitely get a lift pump for it if I get it. I'm going to go look at it in an hour or so, it has some body damage down the right side of the bed but I want to see how bad it is before the guy gets it fixed. Hell, I may just buy it as is if it's not too bad. I saw the truck but it was dark and I was tired so I didn't really pay attention to everything.

It's been hinted at so now I'm going to ask, what's better about the '03 trucks? This is great, I'm learning all kinds of stuff here, keep it coming.

Their is no 3rd injection event so that helps w/ mileage. The piston design is stronger then the 04.5 and up engines.

It may need some small attention like a lift pump but that really shouldn't hinder you from buying the truck, that's minuscule in terms of a problem. It's already 6-7 years old, give it the attention it needs and it will serve your needs and then some. Being a 2003 with a HO 6spd, your body panels are going to be in need of attention before you need to really tear into the engine/drivetrain.

Buy it.

I had an '03 and loved it-a guy ran a stop sign and totalled it so I picked up an '05 only because I couldn't find an 03 on the market at the time.
Buy it - the 03 gave better miliage than the '05 in the same configuration.

On the down side, the doors on 03-04 extend above the roof line and can catch cross winds. Wouldn't trade mine though, great truck.

I have one. Been a good vehicle. But like everyone says get an after market lift pump. And be sure to get good filtration for the fuel.

Plan on injectors or at least a rebuild in the near future if it didn't have aftermarket 2 micron filter and hasn't had an additive since ULSD stuff came out. Will need a lift pump so get the filter while your at it if not already equiped. Drivers side grab handle tend to come off. I'm only about 225 lbs. May just have been me. Ujoint on the drivers side tend to have issues as well. Would I let any of this stop me from bying another one, absolutly not. I love my 03. Almost 160K now and nothing major other than the injector rebuild but that is because i was lazy on upgrading the fuel filter. Drive line is rock solid on mine other than the 1 u joint but I am responsible for some of that. If the price is right jump on it.
