Amsoil Prices

Local price for Amsoil 2000 75-90 fluid $9.29. Since I will need 7 qts I was wondering is this is a good price?

Would you put the 75-90 or 75-140 in the rear if you like me tow mostly during the spring-early Fall camping and given my trailer is only 24 ft (although it is a fiberglass sided Artic Fox so not the lightest).

Thanks in advance

I guess I should also ask for a quick yes or no on using amsoil vs going with DC fluid to avoid potential warrenty issues.

The manual gives the type of oil to use, GL-5 75w-90 synthetic. If this is the oil used reguardless of brand the warranty should not be voided.

I was checking with the local Dodge dealer to get the specs on changing the oil in my 6 speed tranny and transfer case. The transfer case requires ATF+4 (Sold only by DM) and the 6 speed tranny requires a special oil mentioned only by a DM part number. On cross referance with a Shell guide it mentions this part number. The oil at 10.+ a guart is rather pricey. Need 9 pints.

Maybe someone knows of an oil for this tranny that will not void the warranty.

I've only got 5000 miles on the clock, planning on the change at 7,500 like the good book say's, I admit I really dont work my truck anything near like it was built for, so is it a mistake for me to go to the synthetic Amsoil this early? My intentions are to change the tranny fluid at this time to. dealer changed the rear end fluid out for me at 4,500 when I found a ton of metal goo stuck to the magnetic plug. stuff in there now is as clear as water! I watched him fill it with the correct stuff, its the clearest lube I've ever seen though.

If you're going to take the risk, I would at least wait until 15-20k before changing over. 7500 is too early IMO.

Picked up some Penzoil at Auto Zone in Springfield, MO. Had to go to two stores, each store only had 4 quarts. Mopar part number is on the container and cost was 4.95 per qt.

Thanks again spud.

I am learning that you must stock pile the synchromesh! 2 quarts here 1 quart there. I still don't have enough on 2 separate trips a month apart...and getting them to call you when it gets there is impossible ...mf'rs - JKE

You can probably pick up AMSOIL at your local auto store or GI JOES. If not you can get it by ordering over the internet form AMSOIL.com & they have plenty of it.
