Airport messing with my truck ?????

Well the other night I was driving up the freeway and it happend again....

Cruising about 65mph and all the dash lights go out, all the guages drop to zero and then a few seconds later every light in the dash is on (like starting the truck) and the guages come back to normal.

The engine doesn't miss a beat and the radios doesn't turn off....

This is the 4th time it has happened in the last 6 months or so... Last night I figuered out that it always happens in the same place on the freeway just as I am passing a medium city airport..

Not sure about the last times but this time there was an airplane flying overhead. All the other times it was night but don't know about the airplane. I just put it togehter that it has only happend at this place on the freeway.

Could there be something at the airport messing with my truck???

Gerry

Could be, if you have some flakey grounds, you could be getting bleed thru from either the radar or some other system.

The airport systems are very well checked and maintained. Would not expect anything wrong on their end.

EM radiation can do some funky things to computer systems.

Can you hear anything on your radio such as beeps or tones when the problem occurs?

That was the odd thing.. radio played just fine.. Headlights stayed on and truck ran fine.. Just the factory guages and dash lights affected...

I live near Los Angeles airport and drive by it daily.. This was driving by Van Nuys airport, A small to medium city airport....

could also be a bad connection for the main power at the PDC under the hood. My 01 did that same thing several times before I chased that down. Almost always happened at the same spot, and about the same time of day each time. Creepy

As it turned out, it would happen within 20 minutes of starting the truck. went through all the main power connections and grounds near the pdc, no more trouble.

Good luck with it

You've entered the wrong dimension. Get back in your truck and drive past the airport again. Then you should be in the right dimension and get much more helpful responses there. This is the bizarro DTR dimension.

I think PIND is on to something. It sounds like a coincidence.

You're anti-alien antenna is working backwards. Quick, remove all the tin foil from your windows, (and your head) spin around three times and yell bougga, bougga, bougga as loud as you can. O.K. not really but, RFI could be causing you problems, not likely but possible.

i also had that problem. my gauge cluster had actually somehow vibrated looseand lost good connection. after getting mad at it and taking it out then cramin it back into place, and breaking the clear cover, it works fine. i guess alli had to do was scare it. show the thing i meant business. but i drive dirt roads quite often. i hear the big roads there aren't much different.
