Ipod Nano VS Airport security

We flew down to Houston for Christmas so the wife could visit her mother for a week. While down here, I bought her an Ipod Nano. Don't know anything about them, but have been learning a lot the last few days. We used her mother's computer and put a few songs on it already. Anyway, we will be flying back home Sunday.

Question: Will it hurt the Nano to go through the x-ray machine at the airport? Will it wipe out the songs we already have? I think not, because the security machine uses x-rays, which shouldn't hurt the hard drive in the Nano. No magnetics to erase the data. But, since this is our first experience, I wanted to ask the younger, hipper, more experienced crowd out there.

Thanks for helping out this old-fogie.

Steve

I bought myself a Nano about a month ago and love it. I haven't listened to my music in years and now have a way to listen by myself without bothering anyone else in the room. I copied all my CD's to my computer and learned how to use ITunes to get the most out of the nano.

I mostly bought it for my motorcycle. It fits perfect in a pocket and the ear phones (I bought aftermarket ones, the "stock" ear phones stink, the won't stay in) fit under a motorcycle helmet.

Don't worry about the xray machine. The only thing that machine will destroy is film.

Enjoy your IPod.

DT.

My IPOS nano 4gig has 900 songs on it, love the AUX port on my trucks radio, just plug her in and put the songs on shuffel, blues, jass, country, rock, it just works great, and mine has never screwed up going thru the xray machine.

Can I ask what headphones you purchased? My backpack that I wear when snwomobiling has a pouch and wiring hole for an MP3 player, but my ear lobes are shaped funny and I haven't really found any buds that stay in.

Thanks for the quick info. Now that I don't have to worry about the nano, I can start worrying about the weather.

Thanks again......Steve

Mine has gone through the x-ray at least 1000 times, no harm!

Look into the sound isolating earphones. They come with different sized rubbers to fit different size ears. I have Shure E4C's. They're outstanding but very pricey. I also have a set of Panasonic's (can't remember the #) that sound amazing for the $40 I paid for them at FutureShop.

The Nano has flash memory instead of a hard drive. The only thing that the x-ray machines will do to an iPod is make any pictures you have on it show the peoples bones... (Just kidding)
