Talking Ain't she purdy? New '05 finally arrives!

Well, after waiting since July, my new baby finally arrived. I had a chance to take her all around the Sierras this weekend. 608 miles on the first tank, 17.48MPG average. The sunroof is awesome. She rides smooth with no vibes, weird noises, or hesitation. I was able to hold 43MPH locked in OD up a 6%+ twisty grade which my '99 would have never done. The only time she ever came out of OD is when the turns required speeds lower than 40, in which case she locked up in 3rd. I really love the new tranny programming of the '05's! Overall I couldn't be happier with this truck so far!!!

Not much, but I like the cab lights, overload springs, and just the fact it's the "big dog". The price wasn't much more so I figured why not.

And yes, nice truck! I plan to put a shell on mine, just have to find the right shell at the right price. I had a Leer 100XL on my '99 and I liked it, but there were a few minor quality issues, however I haven't seen anything else up close that looked any better. I'd like to get one loaded with options for $1500 or less... even if I have to drive to get it.

Jeepdude.. 600+ miles on first tank!! Must be nice.... is that taking in the reserve part??? I only get approx. 460 - 480 miles per tank (not counting approx 4.3 reserve).. I have 2500 miles on my truck....

if I remember your tank is only one gallon more at 35... one thing is I don't fill mine up to the neck... just until it clicks 3 times... always use slowest filling setting and wait 30 sec or so when the tank clicks from filling up...

She's a bute!!! Are there many differences between the 4.5 and the 05?? (Besides H.P. & Torque)
If you want a great camper shell look at the Leer line, I bought one and the paint is 100% match as well as the body lines.

Yup!! I'm pleased to say the least. But yes, that 608 miles includes filling it to the top of the filler (a 10 minute process to wait for the air to vent out) and running until 0 DTE, however I'm sure there were probably at least 4 gallons left in there for reserve. Oh, and I have a 34 gallon tank since it's a shortbed.

FWIW, I hooked up the 8.5x20' enclosed car hauler this morning and towed it to work just to help break things in. It only has a couple ATV's in it, so nothing seriously heavy, but after putting 50-100 miles on it (probably 5k lbs or so) I'll put the Jeep in it and get'er up to about 10K lbs. Anyways, I was pleased on the way to work when the display showed 14-15MPG range at 60 (we have 55mph trailer limit here). That's not bad with such a non-aerodynamic brick in tow. My '99 usually got 11-12 with the trailer in tow. I'm anxious to get it loaded up and pull 10K up the sierras, then see how the empty MPG has changed (if any) due to things loosing up a little. I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic, but it's looking like I will end up with a reliable 18-20MPG HWY empty by the time she's broken in! I couldn't be happier!!
