I got one on a new car through the dealer. Then when I needed it they were out of business and the dealer was not willing to help.

Now I get constant junk mail trying to get me to buy car warrantees with all the scare stories. My father was severely pressured, until we decide to walk out, to buy a warrantee with his new Jeep. Again, all the scare stories, bla, bla, bla.

I've heard that warranties are the most profitable part of a new car deal for the dealers. And they are expensive.

I say no way to extended warranties!

Your tranny will most likely be fine unless you are bombing the truck and thrashing it. If you are, and you break it, the warrantee is only going to help with another stock setup. Then you can blow it up again.

If you want a stronger tranny get an upgraded TC and intermediate band and maybe an input shaft. You'll be money ahead and have a real tranny. If you are running stock power, just run it the way it is.

I would suggest No.
Check Consumers Report on their latest check on these companies.
A friend of mine paid 3500.00 for one to extend his warranty past the manufacturers warranty. He had some problems. The 'company' asked him to provide a complete service history with receipts for all the work done...at the dealer. He did not have this and they said no to his claims.
He did not have all that because of the high price of maintenance done at the dealer. He did all his maintenance himself and they would not accept his receipts for filters and fluids because there was no service record.

He probably saved the 3500 in doing his own maintenance but he still got the shaft. He still had to shell out for the trans and injector pump.

I just upgraded from a 06 2500 to a 07 3500 dually. The dealer tried to sell me a third party waranty for $3600. I said no thanks, and went home and looked on the internet, and found a dodge dealer up north named Harold D Zeigler listed on the internet as ChryslerFactoryPlans who is selling at close to cost. Many plans to select from. My local dealer checked them out and told me to buy it from them as he could not meet the price. I got a Max Care 6yr/85K mile plan for $1675.

I paid about $1300 for mine, and it has paid for itself several times over in front end repairs alone.

I can answer that one!

Because they have lots of lawyers that figure out exactly how NOT to pay for your particular problem. These companies make a fortune taking good money and not paying out for claims.

If you are really sure you want a warranty policy, just send me $1000 and I'll cover your truck.

You'd probably have better luck getting me to pay than one of those slick sales companies.

I always buy

The Dodge extended, and have had good luck until this one. Before the hundred thousand miles rolled around I started having minor trans problems.
Poor shifting ,slipping and leaking fluid. A Dodge Truck dealership in Mobile rebuilt it above my protests. A dealer rebuild gets you a 1000 mile warranty,
a factory rebuild gets you a 30K warranty. I lost that battle and was unhappy with the way it shifted when towing a 20 enclosed trailer full of tools for work.I took it to my local dealer before the warranty ran out and was told it was within its limits on their computer. They never hooked it to a load to see what I meant. That is one reason I haven't taken this problem to the dealer.

I agree with Lost lake, take what ever the dealer quotes you with say $1300
or what ever and start a maintence fund for your truck every pay check put a little bit more in the fund.
