AC System Electrical Issue (I believe)
AC System Electrical Issue (I believe)
Guys I am having some problems w/ my AC unit. I am trying to figure out why my AC compressor is not engaging. When I depress the button to turn the AC on, my compressor will engage and disengage 3 to 4 times in a quick sequence. Then it quits and will not engage at all until i turn the unit off from the electronics panel, and then turn it on again. Everytime I turn it on it does the same sequence, it will engage and disengage 3 to 4 times and then disengage completely.
I checked my high side and low side pressure w/ my gauges and I am showing 100 lbs. on each side. This problem really seems to be an electrical issues. So now I have gotten my hands on the wiring diagram for this pickup's AC system.
When I depress the on button and have my meter on the wire for the A/C clutch control output (C3) it will show 12V 3 to 4 times and then quit. If you will take a peak at the link I provided, which is the wiring diagram and go to page 6 it will show you what I am looking at. C3 looks like it should have 12V on it when the button is in the on position from the electronics panel. Since it is flickering I am thinking my AC control board in the pickup is bad.

Thanks for your help, and if I need to provide more information just let me know.

It has 100 lbs and the high and low pressure side are equal since the compressor is off. Also how would one add freon w/ the compressor off? Hard to add anything when the pressures are equal.....
May sound dumb, but is there a relay for this circuit on these trucks or is it all integrated? I spent several days trying to diagnose the wife's corolla and it turned out to be a bad relay. Couple bucks later and it's been blowing cold for the last year or two since.
