ac compressor gone

Well had to have my ac compressor looked at today and its going to be replaced. At 16500 miles its gone. From the very beginning when I would first turn it on everyday it would make a loud pop. From reading others posts I didnt think anything of it. Also it never really got very cold when it was on and it would make this awful grumbling sound when I was idling. Luckily its starting to cool off here cause I'm without an ac for a few days. Anyone else had to have a new comp.?

Mine died at 5k. There was some problem where the overfill valve was activating and dumping all the coolant from the system. Took 6 days and they had to replace every single part of the cooling system. They were convinced it was a blockage in a line so they atarted there and just kept on going....
