Well I went in and dropped my blower motor and there it was just laying there, so I removed it. What is the benefit of replacing over just leaving it out??

 

Replaced/Repaired under warranty at 14K and change. Don't look forward to that happening again soon.

I also took mine out after it failed the first time.

The benefits I noticed include better performance from the AC system (recooling the inside air versus having to pull in and cooling the hot outside air) and greatly reduced exhaust odors coming into the cab from the other vehicles you're following.

 

Thanks EDR, I'm gonna give it a try for a while and see how I like it. Have you noticed any negative results??

It appears I may not have been clear in my response. Also, my AC door failure was with the recirculation door (or are they one and the same??).

Anyway, with the door broken and removed I had less effective cooling from my AC. The system had to constantly cool the hot desert air versus just re-cooling the cooler interior air. The cool down time in the cab was noticeably longer.

I also didn't like the fact that the exhaust gases from vehicles in front of me were getting sucked into the cab. I took a trip when the door was broken and while driving through cooler mountain climates, I occasionally wished I could have changed the air setting to recirculate to keep someone's exhaust fumes from getting sucked into my cab.

I don't think there were any positives that I can think of for running the truck with the AC recirculation door broken/removed.

 

drop the blower motor and reach up,the door will be laying on top,i just took mine out,haven't replaced yet,but works fine till i pick one up.dealer has in stock(surprise!)$16.00 must be common huh?

 

mine came from the factory broke

made a huge grinding plastic sound if you went from a ReCirc setting all the way to defrost

it blew all the air on the passenger side. wife was FREEZING to death.

done under warranty

now, it makes a gentle plastic door slapping shut sound.

dunno how long it will last, but the wife don't have to have a blanket now for me to get cool

 

OK, so if I go to the steelership and pick one up, how hard is it to replace?? Can someone go into detail on how to do this.

 

I think mine just freezes up if its humid.

 

Add me to the list... 56K and barely get air movement out of the dash vents.. all other seem to be adequate (floor, defrost).. this will definitely be a DIY as I ain't paying to have it fixed..

Add me, it went at 35,965 mi. Called dealer and got it fixed under warr. the next week. The AC in these trucks suck compared to Fords.

 

Part of mine broke off at 17k and bad noise from blower dealer removed
broken piece from blower to stop noise and sent me on my way
KNOWING D#MM well that it wasn't fixed well it broke at 18k and will
be taking it in next week get the wife a rental truck on the dealer
for her to haul her sis to airport 75 miles away might as well put
the miles on the truck instead of mine the easy way to get rental
ride when truck is in under warranty is to have wife take it in and
have the coursty driver take her to get nails done then to shop
then the salon then the post office and have her call dealer for
driver about every 30 mins for a pick-up and drive across town
one time they gave her a car when truck was having oil changed.

 

My truck was built in May 2006. I was wondering how other trucks blend door is actuated. Mine is with a button right next to the a/c button. These two buttons are seperate from the defrost/position dial. Is this the same setup that has been breaking. Mine is a Laramie I was hoping it may be different and not break. Any answers appreciated.
