Update on my truck. I recieved my VON on 2-16-04 and it went to D1 build status on 3-26-04. 3500, 4x4, QC, LB, Cummins, six speed. I am happy to see it on the Insight. I was starting to get worried on when they would get started.

Not trying to rub it in but offering hope. Ordered mine 2/20/04 picked it up yesterday. definately worth the wait after getting rid of my underpowered 2001 1500 SLT QC 2WD 5.2L auto w/3.55 rear. Dealership honored the $2000/0%, no questions, and will replace the tape with plugs when they get the plugs in. I went through David Grice @ Hill/Kelly Dodge in Pensacola FL. They have a website I believe with an inventory listing. Lots of trucks!! So far so good and will post pics when I get to. Thanks to everyone here for all the information provided.

 

Stew, that's about 5 weeks. That's great. You are in Florida, though, so yours came by train, and not that far, compared to us here in the Northeast.

Ordered 1/19, and STILL waiting. Maybe this week, maybe not.
I have to make a decision soon to reregister my current truck, which is up in April.

 

Yeah it came by train alright. When I was checking Insight it went from Mexico to Laredo then New Orleans, Mobile, Montgomery AL, Birmingham. Then got on a truck to come here. Why not let it off at Mobile or Montgomery? Logistics people have a warped sense of humor. Hope you get yours soon. And so far the wait was worth it. BTW the first tank of fuel the computer has about 17 MPG with 200 miles on it. About 1/2 city and 1/2 hwy.

 

That's good to hear, also. I'm STILL jealous of your time. 5 weeks. My truck went KZ (factory released) two days before you ordered, and I still don't have mine.

ordered on 11/28 106 days later it showed up. get the dealer to get the district manager in contact with you. a little bit of gets things done a lot faster at DC. it a shame it has to be that way, they got me to go look at fords at one point.

 

We're going to go look at the one I found last week in Toronto on Wednesday. Silver Laramie, full load, no more options left, the sport pkg is growing on me as I've seen the picture of the actual truck 305/555 H.O.

The guy who we had our 99 sold to is building a new house and ran into some problems with it that ate away his truck fund, so we're going to drive down there and see how much they'll give us for a trade, if they come up with a decent number it's coming home with us.

We're also going to look at a 48' Enclosed Living Quarters Race trailer, this was all supposed to happen 3 weeks ago, but due to the weather and our contracts weren't able to get away. The trailer is what brought this whole truck thing on, because I don't think a SRW truck would be much up to the task.

Incredible. But, I guess since you are in Wyoming, they just put it on a train. It doesn't have to sit in ports for 2-3 WEEKS on each end.

 

You're right, it comes by train. Took 10 days from Saltillo to dealer. Picked it up yesterday afternoon. Perfect truck so far. No vibration, no whine, good paint. She goes in this a.m. for 315 BFG's. Discount Tire made me a smoking deal. I give them the oem tires (Michelin LTX A/S) and $200 and they give me 4 new 315's. Have B&W hitch to install this weekend along with rear wheel liners and mud flaps.

 

Well, after an extended siesta in Salitillo, my truck is finally moving North. It rolled off the line on the 25th and sat 11 days until it started heading North on a train. Now Insight has been showing movement updates a few times a day.
