5000 miles now on my 06

So far I really like this truck. Mileage hand figured is running around 18mpg. Twice I have had my check engine light come on but went off two days later. On the 06's you cannot get the code yourself is my understanding. Plenty of power and I like the tranny other than I wish it was a 7spd. I am thinking about a replacement air filter that fits in the original spot. I have bored the bottom of the filter housing. With the silencer removed I can hear the turbo a little more and it is like music. Did the tone ring also. I figure when spring get's here I have a real shot of getting 20mpg if I drive easy. Have not done much towing as of late as the snow and ice has pretty much melted this week. Snowmobiles are just sitting there collecting dust. Jim

I had a check engine light on my truck a while back and thought that I was doing something wrong - the on-off-three-times thing didn't display anything for me. The dealership couldn't make it work either. Does anyone else know if they've disabled this for '06?

went 133 miles on 6.3 gallons = 21 mpg, driving 60 mph for 80 of those miles and the rest at no more than 25 mph on gravel roads. (we were hunting). I also filled up at the same pump, filling both times to the brim. My truck is a 06 q/c 4x4 ctd lb w/1100 miles on it. I have removed the baffles out of the air box tube and also removed silenser ring at the turbo. Rokktech sensor set at 1* advance. All tires set at 50 psi. Everything else stock. I also run power service (white) w/ MMO at a 4-1 ratio. I put in 3 ounces to every 9 gallons of fuel. After reading how bad the 06 gets fuel economy. I am very happy with my 06.

I can check the codes on my 06. Be sure to turn it to acc, then from acc to on 3 times, they'll come up

Averaging 15.5 to 16.5 at 4K. I haven't seen interstate numbers like the above.
