Check the connector going into the transfer case. Make sure its contacts are clean and the connector is tight.

Is your Tcase electronic shift or manual shift?

This may fix it with either style shift. Properly shift into 4low drive a short distance then properly shift out of 4low. Allow Tcase to fully shift out of 4low then shift out of 4wd into 2wd and see if that fixes it.

My 06 with electronic shift got stuck in 4low once. It was the connector on top/front of the Tcase. It had wiggled loose a little bit and was not make a good connection. I disconnected, sprayed with contact cleaner and reconnected, no more problems.

I'm having the same issue with my 2010 Laramie with 166 miles. 4wd lo lamp flashes and I hear some noise coming from the front as though it is trying to engange. Took it to the dealer and they cleaned a connector and sent me on my way. 2 minutes later the lamp started flashing again then felt like four wheel drive was trying to engage. Took back to the dealer the next day. have yet to hear back from them. I have the electronic 4-position transfer case.
