3rd gen steering pumps and boxes? ***

well im having all sorts of trouble with my steering. i have death wobble something crazy. everytime i take my tires in to get them balance (which seems like once a week) my truck is out of alignment. about every 2 weeks it starts pulling to the right more and more. the firestone keeps telling me it can only be the tires thats causing it, but im not so sure... dodge isnt really any help as they say my front end is fine...

is anyone else's power steering not able to turn 315/70r17 all terrains or bigger tires when at a stand still? my power steering really struggles, and it makes parking the truck quite a struggle... could this be a faulty pump or steering box? or are my tires just too big for this truck?

Alignments are critical on the Dodge HD. Death wobble can sometimes be attributed to a less than perfect alignment. I'd suggest another shop, and specifically ask them to pay special attention to alignment "toe". If the toe is off, it can cause the truck to launch into wobble. It happened on mine and they discovered the alignment guy that set the toe was in a hurry to get off work the night before and did not get it right.

This is not to say that your wobble is not being caused from ball joints or steering linkages..... or "D" rated tires like BFG AT's.

What also helps is to tell the alignment tech to adjust the caster to the max positive. On my truck it ended up being right around 7 degs positive caster. This is outside of the factory spec.
