295/70 Toyo MT air pressure

I got some Toyo Mt's 295/70/17 the other day. I had some 285/70/17 Toyo AT's prior to that, they had 33000 and they were getting close, didn't want to risk flats and such with hunting season around the corner. Les Schwab give me $90 per tire (50,000 warranty) so I went with the MT's this time. They do have a hum going down the road, but they ride better than expected. They told me to run 50 PSI in the front and 40 in the rear, but they seem a little "loose", and my truck started pulling to the right a little with them. Seems like I've read about that here before. What are any of you running for air pressure with your MT's? Didn't really expect the "loose" feel with a 3970 lb E rated tire. I've got about 300 miles on them.

I know they're rated to 80psi cold so I would run higher than that if I were you. I run 65 fronts and 50 rear (empty) seems to work fine for me. Mine also started pulling to the right after putting them on, haven't found a solution for that.

The 50 front and 40 rear is a good start w/ those tires. Just keep an eye on them for wear. Remember those are some stiff tires. Unloaded the more air to the max setting it will ride really rough. You need to have the sidewalls flex some to get a better ride. Also most new tires (atleast Toyo's) they can feel a little squirrly until a couple of thousand miles of wear on them. Your pulling right is due to the aggressive tread on the Toyo's.

Les Schwab told me the same thing and I thought they felt loose as well. I've been running mine at 65/40, empty, and have about 15,000 on them and they look great. Even wear, no pulling, but I do rotate every 3000 miles.

Thanks for the replies, as expensive as these tires are I want them to last as long as possible. I will definately rotate often.

I just got mine put on last week and I've got the same thing - feeling a little bit loose and slight pull to the right. Both of which aren't a big deal, but I'm certainly going to watch the pressure and rotate them often. For the price of 35x12x20s I might rotate them every 1,000 - haha.

If you run a little higher pressure, like 70/50, will that have any effect on the life of the tire, or is is predominatly how often they're rotated that will make the biggest difference (or a combination?)?

I'd imagine the "looseness' you guys are feeling is due to tread squirm.

It's a combination along w/ alignment and shocks. The first three makes sense, but a lot of people who put on level kits. Keep thier stock shocks on and then you have no more down (droop to give) travel really left (too short). So your front tires will wear funny and start cupping.

You just have to keep an eye on the wear. If they are wearing in the middle and not the sides. They are over inflated for your truck application. If the sides are wearing (one side or the other side or both sides) then it's under inflated and alignment out of whack (so to speak).

thats what I figured because the sidewalls are stiff as heck. however, it does seem to help a little with running higher pressures. you get used to it, at least i did. beat a hemi (on a closed course) from 70mph to 105mph and they still felt pretty good so not to worried about it for normal driving.
