Question 2009 Pricing

So Dodge is basically offering "employee plus" pricing right now, and in my neck of the woods a $2k incentive plus $1k additional if you finance with them.

An article I pulled from here several years ago, apparently written by someone in the know, said that there is anywhere from 18 to 27% off of MSRP worth of negotiating room. The pricier the truck, Laramie for instance, the higher the percentage.

With the pricing and rebates I still figure there is room left to come down, and the dealer still make money.

Is that a fair assumption on my part?

Thanks for any guidance or information!

Okay, maybe I am not saying the right things or being enough of a jerk, but they are acting like "here's our price, have a nice day". Not even CLOSE to what I am reading should be a decent dollar amount.

What gives?

Go to or call a few more dealerships. There are some that list prices on the internet. Let them know that you're calling around and their price is up against other dealerships. I got that reponse when I first started shopping for a vehicle for the wife in December. I called around and got much better prices. Went back to the original dealer and they changed their tune quickly.

At this point in time, you have the advantage. If they don't wanna deal, just walk out. The only thing that I try to remember is that if I need warranty work, although your local dealer is required to do the work, if you bought the truck somewhere else they may give you a hard time. Like going to the back of the line and small petty stuff like that. Nothing you can really hang your hat on, but you realize that your service isn't quite what its suppose to be. I always give my local dealer the first shot at selling me a truck--if it works great, the money stays in my community, if not I look elsewhere.

Boycott the dealers , buy used , with the amount of bad at almost any level of doing anything with then , cut them off , teach a lesson .
Almost every aspect of doing anything with them is so full of horror stories , from buying new , maintainance , warranty , trade in , 98% all bad , quit giving them money .
I am sure there are all kinds of reasons that many need new , haulers ect.
But if those that can back away , then maybe , the new car/truck bis. will get better for all , boycott .

Appreciate everyone's advice, and definitely about buying used.

Got to keep reminding myself I don't exactly need the truck, and should act accordingly!

Thanks again!

Hard to think of used at the prices that are out there.Used low mileage clean at a 'low'price' has not been easy to come buy.I also kinda let them know I don't want any BS.I'll tell them upi front that a little of the manufactures money for them is all I expect them to hang on to.So far what looking I've done I have not found the truck that floated my boat yet.I will if I get real serious.Just not yet.Fooling around with foreclosers and its taking up a lot of my time.I just bought a 3 bedroom,3.5 bath built in 2007 that sold for $159.900 in 10/07 for $60k and its a hour away.Getting alarmn up and going,heat/ac had wiring cut,hot water heater had been turned on with no water etc.and a side entrance door had been kicked in with frame busted and so on.Just about finished with it.Looking at several more in same area.I was at 'it'since 5am and just got home.
