Thumbs down 2006 3500 Laramie Order Questions

I had already orderd a 2006 3500 QC Long Bed Laramie when I find out in the truck brochure that alot of the things I "thought" I was going to get are not standard or even available because I want the Manual Shift Transfer Case! Has anyone else experianced this? Basically, if you order a Laramie with the Manual Shift Transfer Case you can't get the auto transmission, power rear sliding window, rear DVD system, steering wheel radio controls, snow plow prep group, power passenger seat, infinity speakers and more! What's up with that??

Sounds almost like it is back to a SLT model, yet paying at a Laramie price.

The '06 Mega Cab I ordered doesn't even offer a manual T-case option. Electric is required for the SLT and Laramie. However, it does appear that the Dodge electric shift T-case is pretty stone cold reliable. Between this site, and the TDR, I've not heard of one failure of the electric T-case in the past 3 years. Therefore, if those other options are important to you then order the Laramie with electric case and don't worry.

Talking

First of all I don't want anyone to think I just joined this site to stir up trouble! I have been a longtime memeber of the Ford Diesel Site (since 1998). I was one of the many who ALWYAS wanted the 5.9L Cummins but prefered the Ford chassis. After owning (5) 7.3L P/Strokes and not wanting to dive into the 6.0L mess I finally decided to order a "06" 3500 Dodge (after being so happy with my "05" SRT-10). I guess I am just a little disappointed in how they package the SLT/Laramie 3500's. I would really like all those options I listed but I am not willing to give up the manual transfer case!! Hell I even decided to go with an automatic thinking it might allow me the manual transfer case but again it does not. You can order a fully loaded King Ranch package at Ford and you still have the option of which transfer case to get. I was hoping someone at Dodge would read this and see there are still people out here that want all the upgrades while keep the basic mechanical stuff available.

I don't know if this helps but I use my 3500 80% of the time in the back country off road pulling big goosenecks. I have the electronic transfer case because of the frequency of moving between 4 x 4 hi, lo and 2 wheel.

For 70k miles it's been bullet proof in a very hostile desert mountain environment.

I too used to prefer manual transfer cases but Dodge's set up is so easy and trouble free, I'll never go back.
