2005 3500 deisel electrical probs

I have had probs with charging , driving , voltage drops to apox 8 volts on gage , pull over restart , voltage up to apox 14 on gage . Drive for apox 5 miles voltage drops right off and check gages light on . Make it to my shop . Test alt , replace votage as normal . 5 days of driving good , on start up , inlet heater cycling , lights dim , voltage shows about 10 on dash , but gage not cycleing as normal ( up then down )check at batterys volt show 14.5 apox . In about 2-3 mins . It comes up on dash gage . Hv load tested bats , cleaned posts , also had tipm replaced . Still same . Any were i shd look

When your grid heaters are cycling after start up your gauge will show about 10 or so and then after the cycling has stopped it will go on up to normal charge.

Yes i understand , but usualy it will cycle down to ten then come up to 14 or so . Then repeats this multiple times . Then stays at 14 . It only comes up to 14 after about 2 . 3 minutes . That is not normal .

If I am reading you right you are saying the grid heaters stay on for 2 to 3 minutes at a time? They should not do that they are designed to cycle. Check relays....

No grid heater is doing its regular cycle , on off on off . But gage on dash stays around 12 volts . Then 2 minutes latter gage on dash goes to 14.4 . After grid heaters hv stopped .

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think these trucks do much in the charging department the first few minutes of start up when its cold out and the grids cycle.
