10.5 or 11.5 differential - How can you tell?

How can I determine if I have a 10.5" or 11.5" rear diff? I want to order a Mag Hytec cover from Genos but need to know exact size. How about the front diff in case some more $ falls from the sky

Thanks

10.5 has a 3.5" axle tube, 11.5 has a 4.5" axle tube.

Not necessarily. You could get an 03 SO model that had the 10.5. And maybe an SO 04...not sure on that one. Also, all of the Hemi powered 2500 trucks have the 10.5 axles.

Baja...yours is an 05. All of the 04.5 on up trucks have 11.5 AAM axles and all HOs from 03 and 04 had them. The fronts are 9.25 axles.

These are the ones you would buy. I have the MH rear diff cover but im thinking about getting a PML for the front. MH had some clearance issues on the front and im not sure they have them completely straightened out.

I was going to order the F & R and noticed they said you have to remove a tie rod end or something to get the front one on. Is that what you're referring to or is there another clearance issue after it's installed?

It was a clearance issue. Doesn't sound like they have it resolved yet or maybe ever will. I love the MH stuff.....for the Trans pan and rear diff. Just not the front diff.

baja, look on the inside of your glovebox door. the options sticker will be in there, and you'll see aam 11.5 listed.

Holy cow! I can't believe the problems in that thread. Even more amazing is the way MH responded so rudely to people and wouldn't help!

As far as I know, the only SO that had the 10.5" was the '03 2500 47RE SO's. My 3500 '03 Ram w/ NV4500 has the 11.5" AAM.
