#1 Power Loss
The other day I was at work on an oil rig and my buddy had some Stroghs (sp) fuel conditioner that he swears by. So we put 30 gallons of dyed #1 in my truck and added the suggested amount of fuel conditioner. Drove home 80 miles the next day and the truck didn't feel like it had the usual power that it does. Question is, does #1 diesel produce less power than #2? I already know I'm not supposed to run dyed fuel, so lets keep off that topic please. I normally run #2 diesel with Schaffer's Arctic Flow during the cold months and have been very impressed with the power of this truck. Perhaps it was a bad load of fuel? Any ideas?

#1 or kerosene definately provides less power as it has less BTU per gal than #2. That is why you will also see an mpg decrease with winter blend. Diesel also has more BTU per gal than gasolene which is another reason we get better mpg than a similar gasolene engine.
