I say if the engine started to use oil after switching to Amsoil switch back to Rotella and see if it stops.

Doesn't take much off of level to make that much difference. Mine will change with the slight slope of my garage floor. Make sure you check in exactly the same position before you get too concerned or spend any money.

I noticed oil consumption when using Amsoil as well. I wasn't at all impressed with the blackstone report and ditched it for dino oil.

Mine has ALWAYS used a half quart between changes. Used Amsoil and Dino and never made a difference. Mine too is totally sensitive to being dead level. I try and ck it when the oil is still HOT. In the cold the oil shrinks some when it cools. Shut her off, wait half hour, and then ck it.

one of the reasons i switched to amsoil was the fact that i should be able to go 3 times the distance betwen oil changes. after oil analyze said ok to keep going.i figured i would put 15000 miles on oil take a sample for analysing and change oil and filter .sotex
