We have a MXU 125 Case IH tractor with the 6.7 and its a sweet tractor and engine. Nice and quiet. Onw thing I was wandering is our tractor has a program that gives the tractor 25HP extra when it starts to drop RPMS when pulling. I wander if the Dodge vershion will have this feature? that would make me happy.
Looking forward to 07

I would consider it. As far as hybrids go I think alot of R&D to be done there yet, but could you imagine, the diesel Jetta gets around 50mpg as is, a hybrid version probably 70-90???
are you willing to tack on $10-15k to the sticker for that 5-7mpg and less power?? you can do like was already suggested and buy a nice econo car for that price and get double the mileage of your truck and save money on tires and oil changes, the cheaper maintenance costs and fuel would still save you money after taxes/license(out of CA). i'm sorry but i just don't hear very many cummins guys complaining about wanting more mileage have you talked to any powerjoke or maxipad owners about mileage? they really don't like talking about that with cummins guys, i'm thinking maybe not so much coincidence??
know what's funny? my truck gets the same or a little better than my girlfriend's '00 4.0 2wd ranger with stock tires, she doesn't think that's quite so funny.
besides all that, i can't even imagine the nightmares of dealing with DC service centers with the hybrid tech on the truck, especially with any mods

I'm not sure how true this is...but the cummins shop here told me that the 6.7 will have 375-415 hp, and a MINIMUM of 750 lb-ft of tourque.....he also said to look more towards the 800 lb-ft mark. Although he also said nothing has been finalized, but there are some dogs running around the southern states, and northern canada with this engine already in. Finalizing drivability, and hot/cold weather testing.

I wasn't trying to say I wanted a hybrid truck, just saying maybe they could de-tune the cummins a little, having 610lbs. tq is great, now we're talking maybe closer to 800lbs. in the next coming year, nice to be able to pull 8-10k up the hills at 70+ mph, but I would be willing to let it slow down to 60 mph if I gained 5-7 mpg. was thinking maybe some after market box producer might concentrate on this aspect.
as far as hybrids go, like I said they have their place (in the econobox segment) with a little more R&D, but I think they started in the wrong place, seems they would really shine if it where diesel & elect. instead of gas & elect. just makes more sense to me, but I guess you have to get the public to be more accepting of diesels first. those early diesel chevys (durability of cheap toilet paper) & volkswagens (wouldn't go over 50 mph if you drove them off a cliff) sure left a bad taste in the publics mouth

I agree. Look at Dodge's specs for towing capacity with an auto with either rear gear ratio- you can't tow any more!

Guys, My truck already hauls well above what Dodge says it should haul, safely thanks to exhaust brake. Unless they are going to upgrade the axles and offer 19.5 inch wheels or stick with 17" and go with double disk brakes, quad calipers, We won't be able to tow anymore and I'm already close or over the power level mentioned now. What I want is a super one ton that is capable of a gvw of 15,000 and a gcwr of 35,000 pounds. Anything else is just dead weight. These trucks are awesome now. Without the upgrading of the weight carrying and braking to match they are just creating a paper truck. ks

is that considered a medium duty truck? AFAIK the 650 is a bigger cab, i like the idea of a light truck size cab, i'm still a youngin but after football in high school and snapping my femur in a car accident my knees and hips hate life when i'm climbing in n out of a tall cab all the time!

but yeah, the 650 with the cummins(since ford owns cummins) is a nice truck! i'd make sure and fill the entire door panel up with THE big blue C

Crank angles would be pretty high, increasing side loading on the cylinder walls, unless the block will have a higher deck (I doubt it). Given the choice of the 5.9 or the 6.7 I'd rather stick with the 5.9.

I am totally on that wagon..

As long as the EPA is involved, all these changes are NOT FOR MILEAGE..

Fact is as the restrictions increase for NOx reduction, the mileage count has been hacked by well over 20% since 89. They keep getting more power, but retarding the timing and adding more injection pulses, all which hack down mileage. And really how much NOx is being reduced overall??? Sure the PPM (parts per million) are down, but now we are belching out more millions, 20% to be exact...

Expect another 5% reduction in mileage on the next model.. Those with 89 CTD's are laughing all the way to the pump..
