Herb-

It wouldn't let me get a price quote on those.. How much did you pay, was the install easy.. That would be a sweet mod.

I noticed a HUGE improvement with the GDP Ladder Bars. They FOR SURE stopped whee-hop. They prevent axle-wrap and the leaf springs from slapping.

Some guys got good results from the Bilstein shocks.

I believe the FACTORY E-rated tires make it worse. They are a VERY hard compound and sidewall. Maybe try a LOAD D tire.

Keep a 2500 lb weight in the rear, it turns into a Cadilliac

It is hard to drive with the wife

My buddy has an 06 Duramax short bed 2500 4x4. I think it rides a tad smoother than mine, but not much.

My 01 Suburban feels like a Cadillac on the freeway after riding in my truck.

I love my truck though. It rides great when I'm pulling a load.
LOL my little girl does the same thing!

Even though it is a heavy duty truck the CA freeways are bad at best to drive for the most part. There are some sections that are just way worse then others. I would just change out some shocks and add some weight over the back end. My truck rides great, just because it is Heavy Duty, doesn't mean it can't ride like a cadillac and still haul some heavy weight...

heres an off the wall idea thats probably out of the question for most but......
What if, someone were to remove the 2500 leaf springs and installing 1500 springs. THEN adding a set of airbags on the rear for when loaded.
Im a contractor so having air onboard would be very nice. I could use air for the train horns, air bags, and a exhaust break. And now for making the truck ride nice.
It might be a touch costly but it would be worth it in my situation.

thoughts?

Here is what looks like the ultimate to me, http://www.keldermanairride.com/. They make a 4-link conversion for the rear and if you have a 4X4 you can do the front too.

I saw a F450 with the rear r4-link on it a couple of weeks ago and it looked really nice.
Imagine, 4-link air suspension all around with an on-board air system. Just enough spring for the load your hauling all the time. The big fly in the ointment is that the two kits are like $6K together, NOT INSTALLED. If I had the bucks I think I would do this or build something like it.

without starting a war here,

we like dodge so riding rough is expected, When did that become a compromise. REALLY that is the best we can do in this Nation with all the great technology out there ,is to just expect it cause its a work truck, or a 3/4ton or 1 ton!! Really!
i love how people think cause they like something, they justify it being built cheap, or with a poor design to be expected.
i like my cummins, not so much for the dodge i tell people i bought the motor the rest was Free. and yes chevy does ride smoother, not alot but enough, GM didn't just "expect it" as much

Why not put an air bag kit on it, like AirLift or Firestone? I did it to my '08 and it solves the problem rather nicely.

Its a 3/4 ton truck. It shouldn't be expected to ride like a cadillac. You want a softer ride, you'll have to pay for a suspension upgrade, and even then, it may not be as smooth as your looking for.

I keep 30lbs of air in the bags at all times because I think it rides too soft! Different strokes I suppose. No air in it and I think it rides as good as a half ton 4x4. Change the shocks and see if that helps.
