A friend of mine bought an 06 cummins yesterday..he coil light never comes on (in the few starts since) my 05 comes on all the time...this morning in VA it was kinda cool (45 or so) my light was on for about 7-10sec..he said his never came on..he called the dealer and was told it will only come on if it needs to??? Anyone heard of this? I would imagine at 45-50 it would need to come on for a few seconds at least.

 

I'd say the dealer is right.

 

It was somewhere in the 40's when I left this morning and my light never came on. Truck is garaged, but it's not that warm in the garage!

See.... that's funny. It's not summer yet, but I have not had a morning yet where the light doesn't come on. In the afternoon though it rarely comes on at all if I have run the truck within 4 - 5 hours.
