Dealership tried to get me

I took my truck to a local dealership to have some waranty work done while I was out of town. I have a rattle somewhere in the dash or under the front of the cab somewhere, the clip on the front of the driver's seat ripped off, and the leather on my steering wheel is flaking off.

So, they called me two days into my trip and told me that the tech said the rattle is coming from the wiring harness for my dvd player.(which is BS) The noise is coming from way down in the dash, not the front where the harness is. Then they told me that the steering wheel was normal wear and tear. I've never had a two year old steering wheel start coming apart from wear and tear. They had to send the truck to the upholstry shop to get the seat fixed then tried to charge me for it when I picked it up. I already had the keys and refused to pay for it.

Then, to top it all off, they installed the reverse horn program to my truck. Is there a way to disable that feature?

Sorry for the rant.
Rusty

I think there were a couple of threads about leather breaking down on the steering wheel. Mine did that, and was replaced under warranty. They did ask if I could have gotten some solvent or something on it, but I'm very careful about stuff like that, and the leather wheel on my last truck was perfect after 10 years...

The rattle might be something you would be better off tracking down yourself.

The leather wheels they put in our trucks suck, plain and simple! The best way to preserve it is to put a cover over it or wear gloves everytime you drive. Kind of defeats the whole purpose of it though......

I had 4 different steering wheels while my truck was under warranty, they all did the same thing. Be persistant...

On my '04 Ram, the steering wheel did that too. They also replaced mine under warranty.

It's not really a ticking noise, but a rattle. If I run over the dots in the road, it rattles. Or if someone with a good stereo system is next to me at a light, I can hear it. At first, I thought it was the engine. But one night at work, I parked close to some locomotives and it was rattling like crazy.

As for the steering wheel, my cousin is the GM of a Dodge dealership in south Texas, and he will hook me up with what ever I need.

Thats exactly how mine is. only if I hit bumps. It sounds like its up by the windshield in the dash somewhere.

when I took my truck in to get the steering gear box replaced under warranty they said they where going to do that back up honk thing and i threw a fit.

when i picked up my truck the first thing i did was back up with the door open and it did not honk, so i thought they did not do it. exactly one week later it started honking in reverse with the door open. those sneaky SOB's!

At least some of you guys can throw a fit and not get it done. My 07 CAME WITH IT!!!!!!!!. Scared the "you know what" out of me the first time I backed up with the door open. I thought something was wrong so I did it again and it honked like crazy. I almost brought it to the dealer until I read a thread on here about the recall. Leave it to a manufacture (or engineer) to come up with a panzy fix for a tranny problem. They were having that problem with the Jeeps and they replaced the Park/Pawl (if I recall) and made it engage more better!!
