Turbo sound like surging

Angry Turbo sound like surging

Hy guys driving my truck around the farm last week and went to go home and heard a weird sound like a rough idle go down the road and sounded like turbo was surging or ext brake was in gauging and dis in gauging looked at boost gauge it is going up and down do I need to clean my turbo or replace it

Any codes? CEL on? What is your milage? What type of use does the truck get, such as highway towing, going from the barn to the house, etc? The above info will help narrow it down.

Not much driving work to home very little towing 38000 miles don't drive it to often

Again we get back to codes. Even with the dpf gone and the egr unplugged, there are a few things it could be besides the turbo. I am assuming that you are running the H&S in the delete mode. Do the key/odometer code check and see if anything shows up, such as turbo rpm sensor, MAP sensor, etc.

how bout just checking codes with xrt? no need for key cycle with that.



tune it down a couple notches, load up a trailer heavy and go run the dog snot out of it.

always run with EB on.

Cummins has a tech note in Quick Serve that says the HE351 is close to surging on the ISB 6.7. They say to remove the noise ring if it does start surging.

Had a tech warn me that if the oil level was allowed to go over full (because of the dpf regen) and the CCV saturated, the oil blowby going into the front of the turbo has been known to cause surging and not throw codes.

If your deleted and not doing regens, this should not be an issue though.
