I looked and saw my map sensor. It's way up under there. 45 cents for the resistor. I have wire and a switch.

What's the deal with smoke? Aren't you just puking unburned fuel {potential power},and fist full s of $$ right out the back?

It is, but with a switch it can be controlled. It's for fun. Yes it's wasting a few $$$, so is a double meat Whataburger that I don't need from time to time, but I like em.

That would be the absolute, hands down, most perfect explanation I have seen yet!

Many thanks there, Blake. BTW, I still haven't managed to get the results I'd like to on the 5.9. I'm not giving up and am open to suggestions.

Try a different resistor, just go in small steps, like 5 ohms at a time. It will be a slow process but should work.

When I had the EJA the 100ohm would show 29 psi of boost at idle when the switch was hit. Different resistor values give a different voltage reading and ergo, a different fuel output.

Ok, I just fixed the switch tutorial, photobucket did something to my account, but now its all better.

Michael

It will work, but the smoke output may be different, due to the difference in ECM parameters, injector flow etc.

The only way to get it suited to how you would want it is to play with different sized resistors.

Now beware, without a programmer doing on board boost fooling, you will more than likely get the throttle valve (lightning bolt) light and or MIL.

Well on a 6.7 anyway, not sure if the 5.9 has that particular light (throttle valve), which it shouldnt, due to no EGR system.

You gotta be kidding

Guys. Seriously? Don't we get enough of a black eye as it is?

You must really be looking forward to diesel emissions testing in your state. Maybe just stick a playing card in your spokes...

Grow up.

You are welcome to voice your opinion on smoke if you wish.

Just keep it civil.

I like the smoke when i get to my place... makes good skeeter repellant...

And toesmacker, your point has been made once before, no need for a second one...seriously. What ppl want to do with their trucks is their business, the emissions laws came about long before we were even around this site, and will be in place for much longer with or without our help. Thank you.

Whats wrong with a little smoke. I don't mind it, that why dyno days rule.

I would like for my 4th gen to smoke some at times, but I can crank my box onto kill, and it fixes that issue. This stock turbo is just a laggy beast.

Our fuel is taxed, our cigarettes are taxed, our alcohol is taxed.
I prefer to let my truck puff a bit when I want.
Others prefer to smoke a cigarette and that to me makes no sense at all...burning up hard earned cash but to each his own. Same as the person that chooses to drink and drink excessively and ruins their lives and others by doing so. To each their own.

Hey did I just turn this into a political discussion bordering on being a closed thread?

Whoops.

The Horror!

When alcohol and smokes are banned, I'll buy an electric car...I bet I can make it smoke too.
