Smarty S-67

have read a lot about the smarty s-67 and am just checkin to see if anyone has had the smarty installed and then had to take the truck back in for warranty work and had any problems with the dealership. from what i have read it is completely untraceable. is this correct or just here-say. not that the smarty caused the problems just that it doesnt leave a footprint. i am looking to get a smarty s-67, dpf delete, egr block-off, and different intake. thanks in advance for any help

At this point, you're not going to find any programmer that will claim to be completely untraceable. The Smarty does a good job of setting everything back to stock and doesn't leave a noticeable footprint, but if the tech decides to dig hard enough, he can find something. There is just too much monitoring that goes on in the new electronic controls to have anything be totally undetectable.

If you want to play, you have to run the risk that you may have to pay.

AggieJustin said it. I have been running the S67 for a few months now and had to take it in for the H36 recall. Also told them to give me the latest flash. With the truck looking totally stock, there was no problem. Go in there with a big flashy truck with all kinds of other mods, they may start to dig around.

The S67 is traceable as is any other controller on the market. Also noted on another site, plug and play boxes are even detectable if they look hard enough.

I dont get why you would be concerned about Smarty leaving a footprint when you say you will do DPF delete and EGR blockoff. Those two are far more harmful to your warranty than any tuner!!

thanks for all the help. so he Smarty doesnt truly mask the effect of the DPF delete. it just makes it possible to do it. and as far as i have read in order to do the DPF delete you have to have a different program to keep it from going into a limp mode. be it mads or some other software. once again just getting everyone elses opinion on the situation. will the DPF have a tendency to "stop up" faster if you leave it and run the SMARTY?? i guess it all just boils down to like aggiejustin said. you gotta pay to play!

The basic Smarty-67 is meant for a stock truck with all the emissions stuff in place. There is a "ME" version that is available that includes shutting down the DPF/EGR sensors so that you don't throw codes.

I imagine you may have more frequent regens if you run a Smarty turned up on a truck with a DPF. Just depends on your driving style as to how fast you'll build up soot.
