I got back from deployment and getting ready to sell my 2008. It has a P0700 hard check engiune light that will not clear with the SMARTY and when I try to reload the new 23 file it tells me "Internal Error. Can someone tell me what I need to do to get the SMARTY to clear the code and stop giving me an internal error message?

 

If the smarty has an error you could try to re-load the smarty and then go back to the truck to upload. Did you have any problems uploading to the Smarty?

 

I thought the P0700 is a generic code for the transmission and a scanner Star type or other is needed to read the latch code from the tranny. It is known to pull a CEL when below -18F but clear on it own at 108F or above. The Smarty issue sounds like the files have been corrupted and you need to talk to mad about the proper steps to reload and recover from this before you do anything

 

I did recently update the Smarty to the 23 file but I got no error messages when I did that but how do I go about unloading and loading in a clean file? Do I have to send the Smarty in to get done or is it something that I can do? Is there a way to get in touch with Bob Wagner here?

 

you should just call Bob. Remember he is on the west cost (pacific time). The 700 code is a gerneric tranny code and need a scanner capable of talking to the TCM. smarty does not talk to the TCM.
