Internal fuel leak
Internal fuel leak
Hello
I have a 94 dodge diesel with a 140k. This morning Inoticed my oil pressure was a little higher than usual. So i shut the truck off and let it sit for about 30 minutes, then i checked the oil. What i found was the oil level had increased and the oil on the dipstick had a green tint color to it. My first thought was coolant but coolant wont mix with oil right? it creates a grey milshake look i think. However I am wondering since the p700 pump is lubricated with engine oil if i have an internal fuel leak that is making its way to the engine oil. Or can the lift pump develope the same problem. I went ahead and chaged the oil for now to be safe. However the truck starts with half a crank and runs like a champ. I just don't want to tear it up. A cummins engine is not cheap. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Ty

Re:Internal fuel leak
Can't say for the 7100, but presume it could leak internally. Can say the lift pump definitely can leak past its seals into the crankcase. Changed my lift pump long ago due to other problems, but after tearing it down did find it possible for internal leaks. By the slop in the seals, I'd guess mine had been hemorrhaging internally for a while.
I'm sure others here can tell you more about the p7100.
Regards,
-Scott
Re:Internal fuel leak
Well I called Piers yesterday and they say the only way itr could make oil like it is doing is if the injection pump has an internal leak or if an injector or injectors are washing out. However I don't think it is my injectors because when you start it up in the morning at 15 degrees it doesn't smoke at all or any time for that matter. Truck runs and sounds great. So right now to the best of my knowledge and some other people as well its probably the injection pump. I'll have to get it to a shop and get it tested.
later TY
