Found a nice 08 dually at a reasonable price.

It's being sold from an estate, so talking to the previous owner isn't an option.

It's been deleted, no egr, egr cooler, has block off plate on the intake, & nothing but a straight pipe back to the original muffler. I've been told that the deceased prior owner probably bought the truck already deleted, as he only had it 2 years.

Currently shows no codes, & runs great.

No programmer comes with the deal.

How can I figure out what they did to enable the deletes?

It may have been a smarty or something similar.

Seems like if I ever had to go back to the dealer for anything, if they would happen to reflash the computer I'd be totally screwed.

Comments.........buy it ? run away now ?

It's a super clean truck, but not knowing how/what was done makes me hesitate on the deal.

Without the programmer you are essentially just waiting for a issue to pop up and hit you right where it hurts.

Kind of exactly what I was thinking.

After I returned my other 08 I sold back to stock, I sold my smarty JR6.7 on here.

Now I wish I'd have kept it.

Maybe I can get the price down a bit & hunt another programmer..........

as for and the truck, I wouldn't be worried. I bought my 07 6.7 with 250,000 mi, over the phone, with a few picts. and for the most part im happy. Then I did the deletes and am happier.
Hope you can figure out what programmer he was running.

or talk them down 2k below what there asking know and get a new ecm and programmer problem solved

Tried that !

They came off $500, so I just returned from my Ohio to Tennessee road trip without a truck............just too much of a gamble to risk sitting along the road 1/2 way back if it went into limp mode.
