Need advice on Smarty and Delete pipe
Need advice on Smarty and Delete pipe
I am going ahead with deletes on my 2010 6.7. I got a rpice form a guy to do it for me, and he said he replace the exhaust from the turbo back, but leaves the muffler. He also said he removes the EGR. He gets $1,300 turn key.
I know I can buy the Smart and Delete pipe here for less than half of that amount. My questions are:
1. How hard is it to install the Delete pipe?
2. If I want to leave the EGR in tact, it is my understanding the Smarty disables it. Other than cleaning up the engine compartment, is there any advantage to revoving it?
I only have 6,000 miles on my truck so, I want to keep it as claos to stock as possible right now (and still delete) just in case I need to take it in for something.
Thanks for the help guys.

ranchertx,
I'm doing the same thing with my '08. It still has 50k of extended warranty left on the truck, and 50k Cummins warranty so I want to be able to get it back stock fairly easy.
I bought the smarty with the ME software installed(do not install ME version untill you delete your dpf). I downloaded the S23 software, updated the Smarty with it, and installed it in my truck this morning. Includung downloading new software and installing in truck, about 35 minutes(30 minutes to install software in Smarty). Truck runs AWESOME!!! Can't tell it's the same truck. Marco and company really have their stuff together!!!
According to MAD,it does set egr to 0% so no worrys there. As to the delete pipe, I'm gonna leave my downpipe on and just go with the dpf delete pipe to remove dpf and cat till warranty expires, that way I don't have to drop the crossmember twice if I need to go back to stock. The dpf and cat removal look quit simple. Three bolt flange in front, muffler clamp in rear, probably have to slide the muffler and tail pipe back to get "garbage" out and delete pipe in. I got my Smarty for 600 bucks, and the delete pipes look to be about 200. I'm searching online for one right now. As far as 300 to install, it's probably ok if you don't want to do it yourself, but it looks pretty easy to me. Which ever way you decide to go is your choice.
But let me tell you one thing, you're not gonna believe the difference in performance and mpg. I'm shocked, this said coming from a real good running '03 HO with Bullydog.

I guess my main fear is getting that exhaust sytem to break apart. It looks simple enought, but, last time I tried to replace a muffler myself it turned inot hours of beating it to try to break it loose.
they can be difficult especially if the clamp crimped the pipes.
Good luck with it which ever way you decide to go.
My pipe should be here by the weekend and I'll install it Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting
