On my 08 sterling 4500 c/c (dodge sheet metal) I installed the h&s black max, egr delete and dpf delete. When I have the tuner above stock the transmission does not shift right at all. I don't adjust it very often because I know the transmission needs time to learn. But at any tune besides stock I stick my foot in it, it doesn't want to shift it just hangs at high rpm until I back out of the pedal. It has other odd and end transmission goofs as well. Im really not hard on the truck other than getting on the highway or getting over when the lane ends... But now I only drive with it on stock setting because of the problem. Truck has 65,xxx miles. Any suggestions or advice on what it could be and what to do?

I'll take a shot at this although I am running a MiniMax with a G56. Did you get the H&S Overdrive Transmission Software update for your BlackMax? From what I have read in several threads, your shifting can be erratic without it, especially as you increase tuning power.

 

Well I noticed there is an update. But I don't think it's available for the cab chasis. And I don't understand why it's 300 bucks when they know it's an issue.
I guess Im just stuck till they make it for the cab chasis..

 

Yeah, without it, it seems the only options are to power down or do manual shift control.

 

I have the black maxx installed on a 2008 3500 mega cab. I got nasty shifting, power cut outs, and overall crappy mileage thru the first two download updates? I contacted H&S and a guy named Chuck. We sorted thru the messages, tried some things and eventually they sent a download that cured the problems. Then I did a download at H&S request that was huge, took a half hour to download. I haven't had one lick of problems since. Chuck rocks, H&S rules, and Diesel is still cheaper than a Tacoma to drive!!!!
