EGR Delete

I've installed my dpf delete pipe and took the egr plunger out, and installed the me version in my smarty. (thanks blake) I have a few things that aren't real clear to me yet though. First, can I install the egr servo back onto the valve since the plunger is out. Second should I unhook the throttle valve, or remove it. I'm getting a intermittent surge at highway speeds. And last what is the advantage of full egr delete.

Yeah you can just reinstall the servo and the EGR will be inactive if you dont dont have the blocker plates. If you do, just use them and zip tie the servo motor off to the side (still plugged in of course). The surging may be an issue with the butterfly valve in the throttle valve partially closing (although it shouldnt). Thats why I did the throttle valve delete, zero chance of that happening.

Full deletes give you that clean air in, black soot out, piece of mind. Not to mention lower intake temps, lower EGT's, longer engine longevity, and slight MPG increases.

As Blake said, you need to keep the EGR plugged in and you can bolt it back on with the plunger removed and put on the plates and leave the unit hanging there as you choose.

Sounds like you may have not unhooked the throttle valve? This needs to be unplugged per the instructions. Regarding just the full EGR delete, it is cleaner looking and pretty much 100% ensures no EGR gets past such valving and into the motor. I like the stock stealth look and left it in and to help ensure 100% no EGR I put a freeze plug into the cooler side EGR cross over (with a bolt in the middle to easily remove) and put the tube right back on over it.

There are other advantages as well and the deletes of the throttle valve, EGR cooler, grid heaters all add to the robustness of clean air in and black air out with some spent fuel along the way.

yeah, i did not unhook the throttle valve. for some reason i thought i read somewhere else it didn't have to be unhooked. I will unhook it and see what I come up with. I like your idea of the freeze plug in the crossover tube, with the bolt in it. I read in a earlier post what dorman number that plug was, do you still have it handy, or remember the size?

Doorman #555-020 for the freeze plug.

Ironic huh? Should have said "and Lil Dog"! Not "or"

You've probably had to learn a lot of things the hard way (I know I've had to at times), that tends to reinforce what you know and ones advice if you ask me.

I like to pick up the pearls when I can and hand some out when possible. I'm a little heavy on the picking up side still though.

True True

Im of the mindset that someone has to do it, might as well be me. And if I mess it up bad enough, someone, somewhere, with the right application of money, can fix it.

And I love helping other guys out from what Ive learned.

I may be doing another round of full deletes and a Smarty on a buds 08 this weekend if im still in. If so, Im gonna do a full documentation and tech article.

Well I think that all you guys are pretty smart, and I appreciate your help through trial and error. (it saves me money...lol) I'm learning quite a bit about the 6.7, but still don't know enough. If you guys ever have a question about a powerstroke I can probably answer it though. That's how I make my living, and also why I own a cummins.

I ran it like that for quite awhile with no problems. Wound up hooking it up and it felt a little more peppy.

Thats why I hooked it back up. It annoys me a little having the actuator hanging there.
