ECM Recall/Reflash
ECM Recall/Reflash
Guys;
I got a call and a letter from Dodge seemingly real insistant that I get the latest flash for the ECM. Now, since my EGR, DPF and CAT have fallen off and some aftermarket adjustments have made VIA the JR ME, do I really need to put all that crap back on reflash to stock and get the reprogram or should I be ok? It's a pre March '09.

No, I wouldn't let them touch it. Unless the possibility arises that emissions testing, and or, re registration may be affected by not doing the recall.
I don't know if that is even likely or possible, but mega-engr did say that it might be a coming thing in Cali.

Blake;
In Washington State I won't have any emissions testing for at least another 4 years. Then its a hit and miss patchwork with some of the higher population requireing them and low density areas not required.
Right now where I live its not required but it could change so I've held on to all thats fell off.
That being said, the Truck is running good and I can't see any good reason to let them mess with it.

Id hold off on it. Truck wont be hurting.
Just keep an ear open for any non compliance with recalls affecting registration/inspections.

I received the same insistent phone calls and letters in the mail. My Dodge dealer ship even says that they are an "inspection station" and I need to come in and get it all done. I think it is just going to be a visual inspection though.
They do say I won't be able to renew my registration without it.
I'm waiting for the DMV letter in mail saying what to do. If I have to, I well revert back, get the stinking J35 flash, pass inspection, get my reistration and then go right back to where it is now.
My truck runs awesome thanks to Smarty! This big brother stuff is ridiculous.

Yep it's ridiculous, when are DEQ and the Automakers going to step into the 21st Century. The Computer industry learned over 20 years ago that outside Sources programming and developement for a certain product is not a bad thing. That has led to a lot of new products and a lot of improvement in old products. It just seems like the Automakers and DEQ have a Monopoly going here. DEQ says it's OK for the Automaker alter your truck or change programming but do it yourself or use aftermarket programming to improve a product and you are a Criminal. Even if it improves the Product!!! You are right on Mega - Big Brother is BS!!!
