Dpf delete

Ok I need all the parts to successfully eliminate the dpf using the factory exhaust on a megacab. Would the 4inch bolt in be a direct fit? Wheres the cheapest place to get it? Thanks

The easiest way to do a full exhaust delete is to get a turbo back system for a 5.9 (06-07) and a Smarty. It allows for no sims in the exhaust and the 5.9 system is a direct fit.

I have delt with Rollin Smoke Diesel in the past and they are a great company and have a 5 inch system HERE. They also have a H&S system available.

There are plenty of great vendors online, and a little shopping around will net you a good deal.

Dont forget to check out the store here at DTR, they have great stuff at good prices also.

you'll need to make this:

It is 72" from end of flange to end of pipe. This will go right into your tailpipe. It's exactly what I was after. Oh yeah, you're gonna need a Smarty S67 too.

Chris

Correction: My pipe is 72" long with the muffler. It goes into my MBRP setup. If you make the pipe 72" it will go into your muffler's inlet.

ratlratl,
Are you not having any problems with the stock down pipe? That thing has a Big Core in it!

Nothing so far. Only get a puff or two out of the exhaust even on SW5. I had a Smarty S06 on my last 06 truck and ran it on SW9. Smoked like a freight train. Still had the CAT on it. I think the programming that Mads does cuts out on the fogging issues.

Oh and the pipes are sooty, so I know it's getting through. Used to be completely clean with the DPF.

Thats the exact setup I was after as well. Going with a stainless band from the muffler to my DPF pipe for a little easier install.

I got my delete pipe from RPM outlet. I think they get it from Pro Flo in Canada. Anyway, it clamps to the short pipe in front of the muffler and has the flange the CAT back down pipe. It had 1 bung for an O2 sensor it didn't need so I threw in a 18 x 1.50 cut down bolt (thanks Bronco Hound) to plug it. Works out very nice with the S67ME and for those that have a little bit more money than time. The pipe was pretty inexpensive though and has a very thick flange and wall.

Flo Pro fabrication is about 30 minutes north of my house... They have been doing most of the DPF kits for vendors.. Even here they want $200 for that piece of pipe..

Yep $198.50. I think it was you Lil Dog that told me about this a while back. It is thick wall and flange, but yes pricey. Heck it sat in my garage for over a month just trying to find a couple hours to install it! Wish I had the time to make or get one made...

Again Im gonna show my ignorance here, but why leave the cat when deleting the NOX and the DPF.

Its not like its any less illegal if you leave the cat on.

And I just cant seem to see and performance gains as to leaving it on.

And you could just do a direct bolt on of a 5.9 exhaust.

Just thinking out loud.

Now I did leave my stock muffler on, just because the cheapo muffler delete pipe I bought didnt have the notch on it to match the muffler and kept working its way loose.

Its all gonna disappear anyway when I put the stacks back on. One of these days.

In my case it was simple. I make less than half what I did last year this time. I would like to do it all the way but, the way I did it was more feesible. Especially when asking the bank (wife) to allow me. So I did it as thrifty as possible. Bought the least expensive dual exhaust setup I could. MBRP alluminzed with regular exhaust clamps instead of stainless 409 and band clamps like I wanted. I hadn't even considered getting a Smarty, but since I was lucky I couldn't just keep the truck stock and run it on SW3. I had to do the deletes and see. I also just did the Mads procedures instead of all of the full delete kits, which I know would have looked better under the hood. Since I am using the Smarty I don't need bungs so I had the delete pipe made instead of buying one. About $60 and a favor or two helped that fly. I coated all of the exhaust in rust-oleum high heat paint. The main point for not doing the down pipe is that I haven't heard of one that does fit exactly. I heard that using the 5.9 system is that it's close to fit but you have to really crank on the clamp and check it every so often. I have modded the exhaust on just about every vehicle I've owned and know what and what not to do. The weight of that down pipe with the CAT takes out alot of NVH. You replace it with just a hunk of pipe and you're gonna get some more cab noise. That was a big priority with me as well. These trucks were just so quiet that I had to keep it that way as close as possible. Plus if I do have to go back to stock configuration, I want it to be as simple as possible. In under an hour one person could have this back to original. So not doggin the all the way plan, just wasn't in the works this time.

Chris,

I can see your situation and why you did it your way.

Just saying, if someone were to buy the deletes pipes and its right at the same price as the full turbo back then....

My kit from H&S was a perfect fit on the downpipe and it hasnt given any trouble.

I did it for just about all the same exact reasons as Chris. Only $ wasn't as big a factor as time, so I bought the delete pipe. I wanted to get the biggest bang for the least time and reasonable $.

Is there a turbo back system for the same $200?

Anyway, getting rid of the culprits and being able to return to stock as quickly and easily as possible while enjoying pretty much all the benefits of doing so is what I was after. I'd love to have a turbo back, but then that is more stock exhaust to have to store...
